The painter's great aim is to capture a moment in time, one that the world may pass by a thousand times without notice, and display it in all it's inherent beauty in order that that which was not adored may be forever celebrated.
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.

Above the drone of the flies around my face, above the sound of the water rushing past, the dogs fighting in the dirt, or the kids playing with a stick, came the resounding truth of God's persistent love.
It has to be possible to labour with all the might God will graciously grant us to tear down the walls that have hemmed us in, break new ground, sow the seed, water the crop, and earnestly fall on our knees before the Lord of the harvest; crying out, "Lord, give the growth!"

God has powerfully used the ministry of men like Piper and Platt, Keller and Carson, to enrich my soul and challenge my mind. To some degree, these men have been used by God to help shape aspects of my own ministry; they are powerful preachers. But they are not preachers with presence. At least, not the presence that I need.
