All in Gospel
I'm tired. I'm weak. So come at me, tell me faith is a crutch for the weak. My response? "You bet it is!"
It is no small thing that Jesus asked us to “take heart”, he knows our tendency to bemoan the tribulation of our life, to wish for brighter days, and recall happier times.
To embrace solitude and quietness is to face an image of our own self. For many, that’s an image they’re not ready to face.
Our history—our journey—will lead us to one of two places. Either we will be filled with pride over what we’ve accomplished and who we’ve become, or we will be filled with shame over our failure to succeed and what we’ve done. But the gospel destroys both those positions. Both pride and shame are uprooted and burnt in the blazing light of the glory of Jesus.
