He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength. Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
You have kept count of my tossings;
put my tears in your bottle.
Are they not in your book?
No matter the size of a king’s army, it will fail. No matter the renown of a warriors might, his strength will be overcome. No matter the terror of the cavalry charge, the war-horse will stumble and fall.
Dear refuge of my weary soul,
On Thee, when sorrows rise
On Thee, when waves of trouble roll,
My fainting hope relies
Many Christians today pursue a faith that leads to passive consumerism, a love that expects others to serve them, and a hope that is as shallow as instant gratification produces. That's not what faith is meant to produce. That's not what love should look like. That's not how hope should be experienced.
If you are a follower of 'The Way', 'The Truth' and 'The Life', you will grieve in a peculiar direction. Your grief is ever upward; tears streaming and heart hurting, but with expectant eyes that are fixed on the coming reality of an eternal reunion.
