My name is Chris Thomas. A fortunate husband, a father of three and Dad to five, I’m an advocate of foster care as an implication of the gospel. I’m also a pastor at Raymond Terrace Community Church, a regional church based in the Hunter Valley, Australia. I mostly write about the gospel and how it informs both work and rest.

Gospel Writers (22/12)

About 12 months ago, Tim Challies, who is himself a highly regarded writer and has been blogging since just after Noah emerged from the Ark, ran a series of posts on the topic of the future of blogging. Prior to these articles running, Tim had been engaging a number of writers through Social Media (interestingly enough, Tim has since dropped off the Social Media scene and reports that life has grown exponentially better—though ours is the poorer!) including some dialogue with myself.

This past year, Tim has been a champion of my work, a trusted source of encouragement (and the occasional probing question) and I have grown to appreciate this brother more and more. His advice and input into our ‘Gospel Writers’ community has been invaluable and deeply appreciated by all who participate there.

In honour of Tim, I thought it appropriate to repost his excellently written eulogy following the recent, and sudden, death of his father. Thank you, Tim, for exuding a hope and confidence born in the gospel, while opening a window into your grief. Our prayers continue to be with you and your family.
