My name is Chris Thomas. A fortunate husband, a father of three and Dad to five, I’m an advocate of foster care as an implication of the gospel. I’m also a pastor at Raymond Terrace Community Church, a regional church based in the Hunter Valley, Australia. I mostly write about the gospel and how it informs both work and rest.

The Ploughman’s Rest

The Ploughman’s Rest

In 2013 I began Wordfocused  on a free Wordpress site. Then, in 2015, I transferred my small but loyal followers to the newly revamped site here, hosted by Squarespace.

I originally began this blog as an outlet for my growing interest in writing. With this in mind, I saw the potential for blogs to reach a wider audience and act as a means to draw even more into the worthy worship of Jesus, the grace of God, the Word who became flesh.

These broad goals haven’t changed, but over the years I have discovered that I am most drawn to producing content that speaks to the issue of finding rest and contentment in Christ and the message of his grace. So after seven years of running Wordfocused, I’ve decided to give it a facelift, including a name change.

Early in 2019 I’ll be launching A Ploughman’s Rest , a site where the grace of the gospel so saturates each page that the weary might find rest, and those with bent legs may find strength to rise again and enter the field God has called them to.

All my past content will still be available on the new site, and I plan to have regular  updates with new content each week. I will continue to write for other sites as I have opportunity, and I am grateful for the chance to contribute to sites like For The Church and The Gospel Coalition Australia

Stay tuned for updates and announcements about The Ploughman’s Rest early in 2019. I truly appreciate your support over the years, and I look forward to engaging with you in the year ahead. May you experience the depth of our Saviour’s love and grace as you enter into the New Year.

From my family to yours—blessings.

Chris Thomas
