False Rest

Distraction it seems dresses as rest

It offers much but delivers less

While the Shepherd calls for our repose
To find our peace on a path he knows

O foolish heart, why turn your eye
To sparkling bright and clearer sky?

Why turn your ear to Siren’s song

Of secret dreams and yearning’s belong?

We long to find that hidden place

Where souls recline in gentle grace

Where rod and staff are always near

And feast and table share no fear.

Proverbs 4:24-27

Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.
